USER RATING
“Footloose”
If you love the original Footloose, you’ll be glad to hear that the remake is every bit as entertaining as the 1984 film – and more! Playing rabblerouser Ren (the role made famous by Kevin Bacon), newcomer Kenny Wormald brings the acting chops and enough cool moves to the sawmill to win over both fans of the classic original and also those new to the dance-prohibited world of Bomont, Georgia. Writer/director Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow) has crafted a remake that strives hard to be faithful while also bringing something new to the party – and it succeeds. Those elements that have torpedoed many a remake in recent years – stale plotting, clichés and an inclination to simply copy what came before - are nowhere to be seen here. Let’s hear it for the boy!
