The campaign to have the Muppets host the upcoming Academy Awards may have gone down about as well as Fozzie's fart shoes, but at least there's a smidgeon of good news for Muppets fans in for the annual long haul that will be this year's ceremony on Monday February 27 (here in Australia).

Whilst seasoned host Billy Crystal does his stuff again throughout the affair, Kermit and Miss Piggy will be presenting an award, as will lesser lights such as Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie, Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Ben Stiller, Tina Fey and Emma Stone.

It isn't much, but it's something for fans who won't even get to see a performance of the nominated song 'Man or Muppet', from Flight of the Conchords' Bret. Typical - the one year we're mercifully spared a nominated Randy Newman song we DON'T get to hear the tunes! Sorry Animal, no drums.
