We’ve all heard the saying ‘the law is an ass’. Felon provides a great example of this in action.
Wade Porter (Stephen Dorff, World Trade Center) is a dedicated family man with a promising career, until one day he’s called upon to defend his family and everything goes to hell in a hand basket. Sentenced to three years maximum security jail for involuntary manslaughter, Porter must work out how to best survive the rigours of prison, not to mention the politics.
Not only is Dorff excellent as Felon’s main protagonist, but we’re reminded just how great an actor Val Kilmer really is with his turn as fellow inmate John Smith. Harold Perrineau (TV’s Lost) is also superb, switching between being a loving angel at home and a monster when at work behind the prison walls.
If you’re a fan of prison epics such as The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile or even the TV series Oz, then you’ll really want to check Felon out.
