The Eric Bana/Ang Lee Hulk movie was a psychological drama that spent way too much time inside the head of the hero, rather than on the super-heroic feats that come with being the legendary mutant. This new film is interested in what makes Bruce Banner tick – and turn angry – too, but not nearly as much as it is in serving up the kind of wall-to-wall action sequences and blockbuster battles we’ve come to expect from superhero movies. In short, this is the Hulk movie we’ve been waiting for; it’s a visual feast for the eyes and an absolute smashing good time from start to end! Kudos to director Louis Leterrier (Transporter 2), whose action film skills really come in handy here. He’s concocted his action scenes with flair and thought – never giving us anything resembling padding. But Leterrier also deserves praise for injecting a lot of heart and human drama into this film, something his earlier efforts have lacked. Fans of the big, angry green dude will not be disappointed by this take on the story of the Incredible Hulk.
