In light of the critical acclaim and commercial success of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas, Ubisoft has decided to release a sequel. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will be released on next-gen consoles, and will be arriving sooner than you might think – March ’08.
This release date has been chosen (in part) to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Rainbow Six franchise. The series has sold over 16 million games to date.
This sequel will feature new co-op and adversarial modes, while “providing unprecedented interaction between the solo and multiplayer modes”. The solo campaign will apparently take advantage of “new tactical possibilities in various locations around Sin City”, and we’ve been promised better graphics, too.
Yves Guillemot, co-founder, president, and chief executive officer at Ubisoft, is proud of how successful the series has become. “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas took the gaming world by storm in 2006 thanks to its technological advances and gameplay innovations. We are convinced that Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will remain a pioneer in the highly competitive first person shooter genre, bringing more of what Rainbow Six fans love to the table.”
